Right before Christmas, we went to Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC. Here’s what I thought about it.
First of all, the place was decorated beautifully and the family room we stayed in was plenty spacious enough for all 8 of us. I’m not sure how much this cost because my sister foot the bill (Thanks Sis!) but I think it was pretty pricey.
There was lots for the kids to do, including an show at the Clock Tower that had songs that were stuck in my head for days. After the show, it “snowed” bubbles in the lobby. The kids really went wild over that one.
The indoor water park had a kid’s splash area, a toddler sized pool, slides, a wave pool, and another pool with basketball goals. May’s favorite was probably the wave pool and I think it was on the top of my list too. But, as my brother-in-law pointed out, no indoor hot tub for us grown-ups.
There was so much going on all the time that we never had to leave the lodge (which is a plus if you like lounging in your pajamas, and I do) and we never got bored. Some of the other things they had to offer was an arcade, a motion ride, mini-bowling, and a craft room. I have to admit that the craft room was probably my favorite part of the lodge. I might have liked it even more than May did.
They even offered free face painting (which is why May’s face is red in the pool picture) and free souvenir crafts for anyone.
All of the food we ate there was delicious (I ate way too many scones) and all of the staff members were friendly.
I’d give this place an 9 out of 10. (I had to deduct .5 point for not having a hot tub for my brother-in-law and .5 point for the long drive…)
Hope you enjoyed my “What I Think About” post! Look for more of my random thoughts (on random things) in the near future!
